Every Feeding Journey Is Unique
Lactation Consultant for You and Your Baby
Every feeding journey is unique. As a trained Lactation Consultant, I provide compassionate support and evidence-based information – every step of the way – to help you meet your breastfeeding goals.
I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in January 2022, after 10 years of volunteering as a Cuidiú Breastfeeding Counsellor. Alongside my private practice work, I continue to volunteer at the monthly Cuidiú Breastfeeding group in Westside Library and the Cuidiú Bumps and Babes group in Galway. I am passionate about mothers and babies having the space, time and non-judgmental support they need to overcome any feeding challenges they face and to thrive.Â
Whether you’re pregnant and preparing for breastfeeding, or you have a new baby or an older nursling and are looking for support, I can help.Â
The research is clear that a strong support system is key to reaching feeding goals – an IBCLC lactation consultant is uniquely qualified to provide you with expert, personalised care.

Antenatal Consultations
- Whether you are pregnant with your first, second or third baby (or more!), an antenatal consultation helps you gather the key information and resources you need to get off to a good start.
- It gives you the space to ask questions and get support around any concerns you have. We can discuss and make a plan for how to optimise breastfeeding for your individual circumstances.
- Partners are welcome and encouraged to attend. Antenatal consultations are available in the comfort of your home either online or in person and last 90 minutes.
- Clients who book an antenatal consultation receive a postnatal home visit consultation at a 25% reduced rate.

Postnatal Consultations
Online consultations can be arranged if an in-person visit is not possible. Please contact me at tara@doulanextdoor.ie or (086) 232 8229.
- A postnatal consultation takes place in the comfort of your own home in the days, weeks or months after your baby’s birth, or further into your baby’s feeding journey.
- It is ideal for getting breastfeeding off to a good start, or for expert help in figuring out a feeding issue or challenge that has come up.
- The consultation usually lasts around 2 hours and includes a full feeding observation and mother-baby assessment, taking into account your and your baby’s medical history and birth story.
- We create a plan together that is tailored to meet your breastfeeding goals, and I provide you with written notes and follow-up support by phone/text for 2 weeks.
- While one home visit is often all that’s needed, some feeding challenges are complex and take more time and support to problem solve. Follow-up visits, either at home or online when needed, are offered at reduced rates.
- Partners’ presence is welcome.

Testimonials
Tara is the reason I continued to breastfeed despite complications at the start. Her visit put us all at ease and set us on the right path to success. Her help was considered, professional and infused with understanding. I’ll be
forever grateful.
I am so grateful for Tara's expertise, gentleness and practical guidance. She gave me great confidence in my own ability and that was so helpful. I would highly recommend her as a lactation consultant. My own and my little maneen's breastfeeding journey has gone from strength to strength since our consultation.
Thank you so so much for all your help. I don’t know what I would have done without you. You saved my breastfeeding journey.
Breastfeeding was the thing I was really nervous about as I had heard so many negative experiences. Despite the challenges along the way, your support and that from people in the Cuidiú group have made it such a positive, enjoyable experience and provided so much reassurance in the more difficult times.
[Baby] is 26 weeks today and is starting on solids . . . She’s been feeding like a little pro since you helped us. We are so proud of ourselves but couldn’t have done it without your help! Thanks again.
Thank you for encouraging Mummy to give us all of her yummy milk and not to give up!!
